³Ô¹Ï51±¬ÁÏÍø's Brand-Building Packagingâ„¢ Takes Home Multiple 'Cans of the Year 2005' Awards
Distinctive Bosch Container Wins Competition's Highest Honor
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ³Ô¹Ï51±¬ÁÏÍø Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) announced today that several of its affiliated companies have been recognized with prestigious "Cans of the Year 2005" awards, including the competition's top prize. CROWN Speciality Packaging received the overall 'Can of the Year' award, as well as the Gold Award in the Promotional Can category, for the distinctive package created for Bosch's high-end IXO power screwdriver. CROWN Aerosols Europe received the Gold Award in the Aerosol Category for the unique shaped package used to launch a reformulated version of SICO's KING tire repair and inflator. Awards were given out during a ceremony held in Barcelona, Spain in September.
"³Ô¹Ï51±¬ÁÏÍø is honored to be recognized with these awards," comments John Conway, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of ³Ô¹Ï51±¬ÁÏÍø Holdings. "It clearly demonstrates that all brands -- even those more industrial in nature -- can build sales and market share with powerful packaging."
The visual appeal and enhanced convenience of the double award winning Bosch package has allowed the company to build its brand image with an entirely new demographic group in an increasingly diverse DIY market. The package's metal construction underscores the quality and durability of the product, while the vibrant graphics and finely detailed etching present an upscale, singular shelf presence. The premium packaging appeals to consumers both as an attractive retail item and as a storage solution to be used in the home again and again.
Taking the Gold Award in the Aerosols category was the innovative, easy-to-grip shaped aerosol package developed in cooperation with SICO to launch a reformulated version of its KING tire repair and inflator. A graphic resembling tire treads encircles the entire top and base of the container, clearly communicating the purpose of the product to consumers. An image of a tire pressure gauge is also embossed onto the front of the package, creating a striking asymmetrical shape. The container itself is contoured in a comfortable, easy-to-grip shape that facilitates product dispensing. SICO's patented injection system allows the entire contents of the aerosol to be dispensed when the actuator is activated. In addition, a rubber gasket ensures a solid hermetic seal, protecting content quality and extending shelf life. Operation is also easier due to a 45 degree slanted injection nozzle.
Organized by The Canmaker magazine, the awards are designed to celebrate and promote innovative metal packaging. "Cans of the Year" traditionally runs alongside the Cannex exhibition where show attendees vote for the overall contest winner. Experienced industry executives choose individual category winners, awarding gold, silver and bronze prizes.
